Course Details
1. Safety & confidentiality: We commit to both as a requirement of the course. I put your email addresses in the bcc section of the email. We can use one another’s first names, but at this point, we’ll keep this boundary. I will moderate the group and if at some point the safety of the group is compromised, I will email you privately. Most of you don’t know one another, but there’s a good chance that we have a stellar group here. I think you have a chance to benefit one another.
2. Length of course: 2 1/2 months
3. Commitment: min. of 10-15 minutes every other day. Read the post, reflect on it, pray about it, then respond in the comment section, if possible, in terms of your own experience. This is a course about your pain, not in the abstract, but your experience. My hope is that God will speak to us through this process and through one another to transform our pain and our understanding of the role of pain in our lives.
4. Structure: I’ll post a blog (and keep it private so it is not available to the public) and send the link to each of you in the group every other day. I’m going to ask that you read it and respond within two days so that we can stay on track.
5. Feedback: I’m hoping that the course is helpful to you. I will welcome feedback along the way on how it can be improved. In this way, we will be open-sourcing the formation of the course.
6. Faith: I’m pretty sure we’re all believers. I believe that Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. This will become important along the way as Jesus shows us truth that leads us in the narrow way to life. If this is a problem, this course will not work for you.
7. Adjustments & Grace: Because this is our first effort w/ this course, mistakes are inevitable. I’m hoping that we can make adjustments as we go and that you will offer me grace if I somehow fail to meet your expectations. I really want this to be a valuable and even healing experience. But if I or others disappoint you, please give me/us grace.
